Standards for Eligibility of New Horizons Day Camp Scholarship Program

 

The following guidelines qualify a scholarship participant with New Horizons Day Camp. Characteristics are gleaned from personal interviews and conversations with references before the camper is accepted by New Horizons Day Camp (NHDC).

 

• Camper is self-motivated and excited to participate under the guidelines of NHDC.

• Camper is in grades K-9

• Camper expressed curiosity and willingness to try to activities, some of which may be out of their comfort zone.

• Camper is involved in school and extracurricular activities.

• Camper is respectful of others and able to follow the guidelines of positive group dynamics.

• Camper is interested in acquiring greater self-confidence, know how, and leadership skills.

• Camper is committed to being a positive contributing group member and shows a genuine interest in participating, understanding that his or her commitment means full participation in their camp experience.

• Camper has a supportive family unit and is behind the child’s interest in NHDC.

 

Camper Scholarship Program Guidelines

 

New Horizons Day Camp strives to make camp available to all campers, regardless of the means. We consider number of children in the household and extenuating circumstances such as family illness, family members in college, and so on.

 

Through the Camper Scholarship program, NHDC strives to provide a camp experience of differing social, cultural, and economic groups than might normally be seen in NHDC’s camper population.

 

NHDC prohibits discrimination against its camper applicants based on race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, gender identity and religion.
